Alcoholicos Anonimos (AA) is a community-based self-help group for individuals to assist one another in conquering their alcohol addictions. A.A. meetings are free and accessible to everyone. Participation is open to everyone, regardless of their age or educational background. Anyone can become a member if they are committed to limiting or stopping alcohol consumption. AA's primary goal is to help those struggling with alcoholism achieve and maintain sobriety. The Twelve Steps of A.A. are a set of suggested spiritual principles that can be used as a way of living, enabling the program's members to recover from their addiction to alcohol. The twelve-step approach involves asserting the powerlessness of alcohol addiction in the life of the recovering alcoholic and the need for him or her to seek protection from a higher power, such as God, to overcome alcoholism (McKay, Wood, & Briley, 2012). The Twelve Traditions of A.A. govern and preserve the Nineteen A.A. These principles describe how A.A. keeps its unity intact and connects with the world. This also protects the organization from outside problems and internal strife by stabilizing Alcoholics Anonymous (Kurtz, 2016). Alcoholics Anonymous is a manifesto that describes how A.A.'s recovery program works. The book includes stories and autobiographies of the co-founders and other A.A. members who have recovered (Smith, 2020).
