Bios Partners identified the lack of venture capital in the Central United States during our critical due diligence. This is especially true in light of the amount of innovative new science being produced. VC financing in Silicon Valley and the rest of the Northeast is rapidly being saturated, as biological interventions are a new paradigm. The National Institute of Health (NIH) funds Central America at a rate of $3.36 for every $1 of venture capital raised. In comparison, Western US institutions only fund at $0.57, while Northeastern US institutions fund at $0.68 for every $1 in VC funding. This reflects the high degree of unfunded biotechnology in Central America because the NIH grants money for technology validation and is impartial.
