I had previously served as an Army aviation officer. As an Army officer, I spent eight years and became a company commandant with responsibility for 103 troops, preparedness, and contingency response forces that could be deployed worldwide. While in Afghanistan, I also conducted the personnel recovery operations and planning analysis for all tasks within the 25th Infantry Division area of responsibility. My maintenance platoon operation for my company’s airframe systems was particularly important to me as it was a huge part of that mission, and my UH-60 Blackhawk was the aircraft I qualified in.
