Maven Hair Co Aledo, TX – I would give zero stars if I could – do NOT recommend. (pictures did not work may need to add them later or in another review I'll update if that is the case)
I went to Maven Hair Co. Aledo, TX location on 7/29/2026 for a consultation with Madison. At that time, I explained thoroughly what my expectations were that I wanted Dark Ash highlights, so I didn’t feel so white/Gray or balding to add dimension. I had not gotten my hair colored in 6 years so I wanted to ensure the person I selected would be the best. I explained I wanted to keep my original natural platinum blonde (or grey (salt) and that I just wanted dimension. That was going to cost 325. She somehow talked me into blonding for my ends and for the underside of the back of my head since it was dark and still had color. I figured this was supposed to be a luxury salon and they would be able to do an outstanding job and get me the color I wanted to I agreed. That brought the price to 560 (color only no haircut), but unfortunately, I trusted her and the salon and scheduled my appointment for 08/26/2026. Upon arrival I got a bit nervous as Madison asked me what we were doing today. I said, “we had the consult that I paid you 35 for and I think our plan is set”. She said, “That was a week ago, and I have had many other clients since then”, so I had to explain it all over. This really rubbed me wrong as I paid for the consult, that doesn’t come off this appointment and she didn’t take notes? We went through the coloring, it seemed ok, but I wasn’t convinced when I left but wanted to give it a day maybe once I wash and style it the following day it would be perfect. Below is what it looked like on Day 2. I was super concerned about the underside and throughout the face where the blonding took place.
I called the Salon and let them know, however, I was leaving for Europe in two days for eleven days. They agreed for me to come back so they could fix it on Day 3, the day before my trip. This time I landed with Brook, who was a much more seasoned Stylist and seemed very friendly and knowledgeable – I had wished I went with her the first time as she agreed it was Brassy and also indicated that she probably would not have put blonde in my hair. But she didn’t want to correct the blonde, she wanted to put in more lowlights to allow for the white (original hair color) to pop out more and that I should use purple shampoo on those blonde pieces to whiten it up and eventually just cut off the blonding Madison did. After Brook finished, it looked darker, I wasn’t convinced but I trusted and hoped by the next day it would be ok. It wasn’t. It was brassier. I tried on my trip using purple shampoo, that didn’t work, nothing did. Here are the pictures during my trip – I wanted to cry every day. My hair just looked worse every day, it was so many different colors and never the color it should have been. It looked like trash – and it wasn’t starting to become very clear that it was the blonding they did that was never corrected and the lowlights just faded.
Nine days after Brook corrected only the lowlights, she refused to touch the blonding, I messaged the company from Europe letting them know the situation and that I would be flying home in two days and would like to get a call from the owner and go in to see her so she could see my hair and address the situation. She finally texted me the following on the Friday I was flying home.
The owner’s response was extremely disturbing. She Wrote: Sent from my iPhone: "Hi Jodi, this is Whitney, the owner of Maven. I’ve read everything you’ve sent and I’ve gone back through your full service history with both Madison and Brooke.
I’m sorry you’re unhappy with your hair. I don’t want to brush past that.
Here’s where things stand from our side. After your appointment with Madison, you told us you weren’t happy and we brought you back in for a full corrective with Brooke at no charge to you. You left that appointment satisfied. That’s what our team observed and documented that day. The photos you’ve sent since are from couple weeks after that service. What I’m seeing in them is normal tonal shift, not a color correction issue.
Platinum and lifted blonde pull warm over time & require a high level of home care and professional maintenance which was communicated to you. heat styling, water mineral content (which changes significantly when you’re traveling), sun exposure, and shampoo will all move tone. That’s why purple shampoo was recommended. It’s ongoing maintenance, not a patch on poor work.
We’ve already provided the remedy we provide in this situation, and we aren’t able to offer additional services or a refund.
I also want to be direct with you about one thing. The comments about my stylists’ training and competence have gone past feedback, and I’m not willing to have my team spoken about that way. For that reason we’re going to close out your file with us, and I’d encourage you to find a salon that’s a better fit going forward.
I do wish you well.
— Whitney

— Whitney" For a customer service-related business I have never had an owner hide behind texts, not take the initiative to correct a problem that is clearly wrong and try to make it seem it was my fault and threaten me. I’m 100% certain if she went through this same experience, she would expect a refund or it to be corrected. Remember, they never corrected the blonding which I initially didn’t even want. After 1 day, I have never in my lifetime had my hair immediately turn brassy – it generally would take at least a few months before you would have to work on it so I am warning those that read this to consider other salons, I’ve read past reviews and the owner has slammed the door in the faces of those with similar concerns or bad service. My remedy, after speaking to friends, family, coworkers as well as the community and neighborhoods where I reside here in Aledo, I found another salon to do a consultation free of charge, his thoughts were these – generally speaking. Hair shouldn’t turn brassy one day after getting it colored, he could tell that it was the blonding that caused most of the yellow brassiness and that when this happens it is generally due to the fact that the hair wasn’t lifted correctly and no purple shampoo will fix that. We are waiting for my hair to recover and then my only “sure” fix will be to redo those brassy pieces to lift them and possibly a gloss – however either way it’s not a fix at home case so I will need to dish out more money due to @MavenHairCo. Aledo, TX negligence and refusal to do the right thing. Take your chances if you want but I 100% do not recommend this salon.
