OWT Architects successfully completed the complex renovation of the design firm's municipal library. The redesign process involved close collaboration with the library's administrators and staff to ensure it would best meet the needs of users. The building was arranged based on its primary function: the center retained the books, surrounded by various programming spaces. The library became the community's focus when it opened, captivating visitors with its flexibility, technology, and gathering space. The design intended the library to be an educational tool for the community, illustrating the town's commitment to sustainability and development in a leading-by-example optimal manner. The north entrance was designed to be very pedestrian-friendly, creating a welcoming, open space for the public. The south entrance provides an additional way to access the facility via the southern lawn. A trail from the south lawn connects with the library. Parking will be available for Council meetings within the larger parking lot to the south. The southeast corner of the building houses a public restroom, recycling bins, and mechanical equipment. The Library Lobby The lobby's centrally located welcome desk offers a clear view of both entrances. The lobby can also function as an additional space for public events. When the large doors are open, it creates a continuum from the south courtyard, through the lobby, and into the patio and lawn. This makes it possible for residents and staff to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, with the lobby acting as a vital intermediary Sustainability and Cost Reduction
