Located at 3705 La Branch Street, Retrospect Coffee Bar was the site of one of Houston's first gas stations in the 1920s. This 297sqft space that reopened in May 2017 as a café, Latte, and Beer tavern now welcomes visitors to the thriving Midtown district with cozy seating. Our cozy yet well-ventilated dining room is ideal for sipping local craft lattes, beers, wines, and crepes and has a pet-friendly patio. We provide Houstonian coffee drinkers with an ever-changing range of brews from the city's best coffee roasters and delicious made-from-scratch pastries, croissants, and crepes. Also, Retrospect now supplies snacks from Pat Greer's Kitchen and offers Chaste Foods milk alternatives. Local beers and organic red, white, and champagne wines are poured at the bar.

The coffee shop boasts rave reviews from customers, citing hits including “Great coffee and food,” “Stroopwafel latte,” and “Outdoor spaces.” Most customers appreciate the drink and food quality and note the staff’s helpfulness in the atmosphere, which is comfortable. Not everyone is able to appreciate the offering, as one reviewer states that they visited during what they thought should be operating hours, only to find that the shop was closed. But, the overall feel is that the shop is an excellent option for coffee drinkers who want to support an independent business.
