About this business
Educational equality is the door to economic prosperity for both people and places and is one of the most essential facets of the SA2020 ecosystem. It is one of the most fundamental social justice issues. That is what the Henry Ford Academy Alameda School for Art + Design in San Antonio is all about. The school’s mission is to place learning at the core of San Antonio High School for the Arts and Design and fully graduate all its students. HFA Alameda School is the only art and design high school in San Antonio that is open to all, tuition-free, and educationally first-rate. Henry Ford Learning Institute, a nonprofit founded by the Ford Motor Company Fund, has created the school to promote creative thinking. The school opened on August 26, 2009, in an arrangement with the San Antonio Independent School District that allows it to share its professional development and curriculum with the district schools in exchange for maintenance and occupancy costs. "It will be an example of the sort of innovative, cooperative work that can help the struggling SAISD create a more prosperous future and energize San Antonio’s urban core communities." (My San Antonio Editorial. Robert Rivard. June 14, 2009).
