Learning Tree Academy

Learning Tree Academy is a locally owned center that has been serving the San Antonio area since 1965 and is owned by parents. It is our aim to combine the most effective of various early childhood education theories into a program that is better overall. Each program is fully accredited, maintains staff ratios required by the state, and all educators have received extensive and qualified CPR, childhood education, and first aid training. Active learning takes place during every stage of a child's development. The A Beka (Phonics) program is used to help children learn and develop their skills. Kids can strengthen their hands and learn how to write by performing related activities. Kids will learn to write their last names and, later, their first names. Children can recognize and distinguish the sounds of each letter so that they can spell the different words or sounds in a sentence. Children are supported as they read simple books or sounds or mix letters together. The group will become familiar with the individual sounds of the components of numerous words. Over time, children get better at recognizing these individual sounds and blend them together. They become great at recognizing this individual sound. These activities are easy to start and become increasingly difficult. In the current year, the group plans to read and learn to spell words, by combining pictures and letter sounds. The children learn to count objects and recognize the different shapes and sizes. Science focuses on life science activities and includes growing plants, studying insects, and other similar activities. Children also learn basic Spanish words by using songs, counting in Spanish, and other simple vocabulary-building activities. The children will also learn to feel comfortable speaking and performing in front of other people. Every day, good manners are encouraged and modeled.
