Mexican American Catholic College (Mexico American Catholic College) is an independent Catholic institution of higher education. Our College was founded in 1972 by the Archdiocese of San Antonio and Texas Catholic Conference to serve the Mexican American Cultural Center, which handled language acquisition and pastoral training. Spanish-speaking communities in the United States were growing, but there were not enough pastoral resources available. The need for change agents could not be met without well-educated leaders and a deep understanding of Hispanic culture. PADRES, an organization of Mexican American priests and Las Hermanas, were able to collaborate with the Archdiocese of San Antonio and Texas Catholic Conference to establish MACC. In this new environment, the center was able to focus on needs and opportunities. Things changed when MACC was established and met these needs. All liturgical materials used by English-speaking Catholics soon became available in Spanish.
