The company was established by Emanuel Rosenfeld, Maurice Strauss, and W. Graham Jackson in 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Manny Rosenfeld, Moe Strauss, and Jack Jackson (not a true associate, Jack could be a pun on the quantity "one" or store number, however, the mechanics is unclear) and one of the four friends who contributed $200 each to start a single store of auto parts in August 1921.
