Jaiha started her nursing career in emergency medicine at a small, rural hospital after she graduated. After a few months, Jaiha enrolled in critical care and trauma school. She signed an agreement with Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in Dallas, Texas, and found herself in the middle of a large level 1 trauma centre. She was employed in the ER when she saw facial trauma patients from car accidents and traumatized patients. She learned from the best trauma surgeons and plastic surgery consultants in the region. After ten years in critical care and trauma nursing, Jaiha decided to move away from the bedside. I was already interested in facial injuries, and now I wanted to see the dark side of what happens to these injuries once they are in the hospital setting. It was evident to me after my first course that this was my profession. Jaiha combined aesthetics and emergency medicine and critical care in her nursing background, showing an overlap that few people are aware of.
