Sparano + Mooney Architecture was founded in 1997 by John Sparano, Anne Mooney, and is currently led by Ludwing Juarez and Nate King. The practice has received more than 50 honors and design awards and has consistently received recognition for design excellence. In 2013, Sparano + Mooney Architecture was honored with the American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region Architectural Firm of the year and the American Institute of Architects Utah Architectural Firm of the year awards. John Sparano (FAIA) is a local AIA chapter president. The AIA Western Mountain Region awarded him both the Bronze medal and the Silver medal for distinguished work in architecture practice. These are the highest honors given to a regional architect. John was also elected to Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects. Anne Mooney (FAIA), NCARB and LEED AP is a member of the AIA Board of Directors. She is also the chair of the AIA Committee on the Environment. Mountain Living magazine named her one of the Top Women in Architecture 2020. In 2021, Anne received the Silver Medal from the AIA Western Mountain Region and was elected a fellow in the AIA the following year. Anne holds the University of Utah Professor of Architecture appointment. She actively teaches the next generation of architects. Sparano + Mooney Architecture's work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
