We are situated in Virginia Beach at the Kempsville area. In the jewellery industry, our family's roots go back to the 1930s. Mister Jewelry has undergone several transitions in its long and winding history. Our great-grandfather left watchmaking in Pennsylvania in the 1930s and early 40s until the economy worsened. Our family relocated to Norfolk in 1940 to work at Barr’s Jewelers on Granby Street. As a boy, our great-uncle used the sidewalk clock to stay awake. Later, they opened a jeweller's shop on Colley Avenue, and our father, uncle, and cousins began working there in their teens, as our great-uncle did in the 1930s and 40s. The family owned a second store in Little Creek East, Norfolk, in 1960, which they kept until the 2000s. We debuted at Mister Jewelry on Princess Anne Road in May 1981 and moved to Fairfield Shopping Center in 1982. We opened at the current location on March 1, 1989. With five different generations, seven stores, and seven jewellers/watchmakers, the road has been long, filled with ups and downs (Mister Jewelry, n.d.).
