My wife and I have been to MISTER JEWELRY numerous times, she for an occasional jewelry chain repair or ring cleaning, I for battery replacement (which they do on the spot for >$15). That is why I went recently, to have the battery in my old faithful Seiko replaced. No problem, except that when I got home, the hands were askew. The hour hand was at half past when the minute hand was at 12. I returned and pointed out the problem. The owner had the temerity to say, “It was that way when we got it.” “I DON’T THINK SO. I have worn the watch for 15+ years. I think I would have noticed that.” (I have 12 watches and 16 clocks in my house. I think I know when the hands are not right.) He and I went round and round for a few minutes in a less than pleasant conversation until he finally said, “Our watchmaker comes in on Thursday. I’ll have him adjust it – for free.” “Okay.” (Gee thanks for agreeing to return my watch to the condition it was when you simply replaced the battery.) I picked the watch up the following week and the hands were set properly, BUT after wearing it for less than a day, the second hand got stuck on the minute hand, so the watch stopped. You could see that the second hand impinged the minute hand. I brought it back. They had it for another week. When I picked it up, the same thing happened within a day, except it occurred at 1100 not 1200 as previously. I was tired of the problem, as I am sure they were tired of seeing me, so I took the watch elsewhere, paid $40 and it works fine.
