My children's mother moved to a town 60 miles away, without proper notifications, submitted a modified parenting plan that resulted in a net decrease of my time with the kids by 30% and with her background working as a court administrator was able to submit a mountain of paperwork that had the judge agreeing with her it was all a great idea; despite the fact that it violated my rights as a father and state laws about relocating with children. Mr. Magee was able to quickly sort through the nonsense and During the process he was able to vacate a restraining order against me by effectively demonstrating that my ex was the High Conflict individual and had abused court resources to secure it. Mr. Magee was so successful in thwarting my ex with her various attempts to exhaust the courts that she actually filed a BAR grievance against him out of frustration. Later deemed completely unfounded by the BAR Association it speaks volumes to her character for taking those steps and even more volumes for James' character at how he remained calm, took it all in stride and never lost focus of the main goal: get a parenting plan that is best for the kids, not for one parent out for convenience sake. I greatly appreciate James MaGee and how he came in as a champion for my case. Mr. MaGee went to court and seemed very well-respected by the judge. My ex-girlfriend (and her attorney) lost. Then the same ex-girlfriend turned around and sued me claiming I owed her over $20,000. Mr. MaGee took that case on, too, and won. I paid zip to the gold-digging nut case. By the way, I was referred to Mr. MaGee by a very established and aggressive local attorney - he said Mr. MaGee could do the job - and the referring lawyer was 100% right. Legal fees are never cheap, and I had a bill for sure. But Mr. MaGee never dropped the ball, made every hearing, responded to every challenge, and I feel well served. And Mr. MaGee sports one mean bow tie, too…Submit Review5/1 My review isn’t based on Mr. MaGee as my attorney, but my interactions with his professionalism and how he handled a case for my brother as he was assigned several cases’rectifications. First off I will say he is a strong salesman and presents himself to be amazing with accomplishments. Once he got his retainer, he didn't live up to the expectations he set forth in the beginning. He would start tasks and bill for them, even when they weren't requested. He went over my brother's head multiple times. During one of the meetings between Mr. MaGee, my brother and I, he began to discuss other people's cases and had other people's case documents open on his desk in piles with names and sensitive data out. He showed up to court frantic, unprepared and sloppily dressed. My mom and I got documents to him on time and he failed to get them to the courts on time. The judge even made a comment about how unprepared and how the late documents couldn't be submitted, but oh yes did that time get billed to my brother. Again this is my perspective of Mr. MaGee as a professional and how I personally saw him handle, interact and almost hurt my brother's case. Luckily the defendant dropped the case and then the head attorney Mr. McKean was able to salvage the remainder of his case and help fix the multiple over billings in time and expenses that got used against my brother's full retainer paid up front. In my opinion I wouldn't go back and hire him again.Submit Review3/5 If you wan a lawyer who waits till the last minute and makes you do all the leg work, is very over priced and then changes his pricing along the way, James is your guy. Look over your bills, there will be bogus charges, and he is the most arrogant piece of work I have ever come across. Our first conversation, not consultation, cut to brass tacks no B.S. and empty promises just “hey I can do this”. He’s honest, upfront, and reasonable. I just can’t say enough about how personable and upfront Mr MaGee is about whatever situation is brought to him. The best part is that when I DIDNT need him there was no hard feelings and he encouraged me to take the route that eliminates him, costing him my business but earning him my trust as a future client.
