Reliable Pacifica Landscapes was initiated by David Baxter (Baxter), a fifth-generation New Zealander, from Christchurch, New Zealand's South Island. Baxter is a landscape architect's son and an early Native plant collector and nurseryman's grandson. He has always lived, thought, and talked landscapes, both natural and built. Under the coasts of the Pacific, including those in Australia, New Zealand as well as the Pacific Northwest, one will find his career designing and constructing gardens and landscapes. Baxter has worked on many design and construction projects, including large commercial parks and residential landscaping. He uses his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture to shape his work. This belief has helped him to believe that every person's life should be enhanced by their environment. The reference to Koru is the Maori term for the unfurling of the fern frond, symbolising life's cycle. From hope and new starts to growth and maturity to inevitable decay that completes it and allows life to be possible again, the symbols are clear. Pacifica Landscapes' Koru represents the birth and growth of new ideas, both in practice and in design.
