Seattle Yoga Arts believes that every individual, regardless of beliefs and actions, can effect change in the world. Our students, teachers, and staff embrace the following principles and values. SYA's mission is to close the gap between yoga, culture, the arts, social justice, community building, and justice. To connect people to the richness and culture of yoga, we host Culture and Community events. For a comprehensive list of upcoming Culture and Community events, please visit our Events Page. Seattle Yoga Arts' leadership and faculty are committed to staff training, meaningful self-education, and the skills needed for creating a just and equitable yoga world. As we work to make the studio a living reflection of these values, we commit ourselves to ongoing dialogue with each other and with you. Actively tending to the relationship between our intents and our effects. This is an evolving process of learning, unlearning, and making mistakes. We welcome your feedback when we do not meet these values. Your feedback will help us grow our knowledge and take the right actions. We welcome your comments and suggestions at [email protected]. I love multiple streams of yoga, philosophy, and psychology. I began practicing Iyengar yoga when I was 16 years old with wonderful teachers. This practice transformed me from an anxious teenager to a functional adult. Between 1992 and 2012, I studied Anusara yoga and Tantric philosophy. I am passionate about books, books, dogs, and poetry. My classes reflect everything from Jungian psychology to my most recent movement obsession. This is all rooted in my love of sound, effective movement, and kinesthetic discovery. The reflection of yoga for me is the consciousness of moving slowly, which is profoundly and mysteriously healing. Slow movement makes us stronger in body and mind. Yoga has been a part of my life for over five decades. Yoga has helped me reorganize my cells and has given me a reason to be in the world. My teaching is influenced by the lives of animals and nature.
