With over 240 service centres, ABF serves all fifty US states and Canada. ABF understands the impact of our equipment on the environment. We have been operating with sustainability as a goal for the past 50 years. ABF has implemented several efficiency measures to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. It limits truck speed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. It has purchased engine shut-offs with computers to limit idling and reduce fuel use and emissions. It also replaces old equipment with cleaner models to further decrease net emissions. An ABF road tractor averages twenty-two months, and a city power unit averages six months. ABF received the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) SmartWay Excellence Award in 2021 for the fifth time and the third consecutive year. The SmartWay Excellence Award recognizes the top logistics and shipping companies for moving goods in the most efficient, clean, and energy-efficient manner.
