Dryhootch CoffeeHouse, Inc. is a nonprofit organization 501c3 that was launched by Veterans and for Veterans to aid them in coming back home. The concept was founded, conceptualized, and crafted around the idea of creating a coffee shop that was run by Veterans and owned and operated by them. This retail cafe would be a point of the spear for a network of Veteran Families as it would embrace and intentionally promote Veteran interactions with the entire community. The term "Hootch" is a slang for the word hooch which alludes to a safe place for Soldiers to sleep in the heat of combat. Dryhootch's goal was to make a place where Veterans can gather socially without having to use alcohol. Alcohol has been a significant problem for Soldiers/Veterans throughout history. The concept of "Dryhootch" was born as a café-like social space for all Veterans, male and female, old and young, to help them "survive the peace" after they had survived war.
