Ziebart arrives in Detroit with no money and has to borrow $18 from an uncle in order to get his luggage out of the depot. As a mechanic at a nearby auto dealership, he is soon offered a job. Rudy Herman, who later recruits Ziebart to work in his collision shop, worked at the dealership. Herman later became a partner in Ziebart’s Rustproofing Venture.
