The Dance Centre has a long history of providing students with a safe and sound technical education while also developing their musicality. Dance Centre alumni have performed in North America, England, and the West End of London in productions such as The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz. Our emphasis at The Dance Centre has always been to provide students with a sound and safe technical education while also developing their natural musicality. Our decision to not participate in competitions is based on the belief that we can better fulfill our mission in a setting where everyone has equal opportunities. The Dance Centre students have been accepted to The National Ballet School, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School as well as post-secondary dance programs at Ryerson University and York University.

Since 1962, the SBJ Dance Studio in Hamilton has operated under Sandra Bald Jones' direction. The studio is involved in every aspect of Highland Dance. It offers classes for recreation, competition, and performance. The SBJ Dance Studio has had students win Provincial, Canadian, and World Highland Dance Championships, as well as major Championships in Canada, the United States, Scotland, and Australia. The Schiehallion Dancers are a studio dance group for dancers older than 13 years old who have a strong commitment to Highland Dance. No matter how committed you are to Highland Dancing, our classes will be a lot of fun and educational. The classes are designed so that students can learn the correct technique, dances, and steps necessary to compete and pass the STDA Dance Exams. The classes are divided by age and competition levels. The expectation is that dancers who wish to compete should attend two classes per week. It is important to train properly in order to maintain and develop a standard of dance that can compete at the provincial, national, and even international levels.

Marie Zimmer won the Canadian Professional Latin Championships in 1973 and placed first in the Canadian Professional Dance Competitions. She also received top studio and teacher awards from the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. She began her career as an Artist in the classroom for the Hamilton-Wentworth school board, where she teaches children and adults Social & International Ballroom & Latin Dance, Folk, Jazz Ballet, Line Dancing, and Hip-Hop, and choreographs theatre dances. Marie Zimmer began dancing at the age of six. She was born in Minto New Brunswick. She moved to Hamilton in Ontario and joined one of Toronto's Best Dance Schools, "Roland and Romaine School of Dance". She danced Jazz Ballet, and Modeling, and was a part of "Pig & Whistle Dancers", who appeared on TV Network. She did Fashion Shows and performed in local theatres. We strive to create a fun and entertaining environment for the students as they learn different dance styles. Our dances include Latin and Ballroom in social, international, and competitions. Kids, adults, weddings, and couples are all welcome. Ballroom and Latin are available to both adults and children. Ladies' classes include Lady's Latin Rhythms, Belly Dancing, and Yoga. We have also added Line Dancing to our list of fitness. We offer Jazz, Ballet, and Hip Hop for kids and teens. Six days per week, we offer dance lessons.
