The center serves 263 elders and 100 community participants with about 500 volunteers, ensuring that all are treated equally through care partnerships. The center also provides numerous amenities, engaging programs, and consistent, attentive staff, which nurture Elders' independence, choices, and happiness. Features of the continuing care program, well-kept facilities, and a supportive atmosphere make it a highly nominated choice. However, criticism about Sherbrooke's staffing levels and quality of care should be taken seriously as it may have some serious safety and quality assurance implications. The Centre's overwhelming positive reviews regarding quality care and quality of life for more than 263 Elders demonstrate its strength and need for inclusion in the top ten list of care facilities.

The original Saskatoon Convalescent Home was situated on the corner of 31st Street and Idylwyld Drive. It was owned by the Commonwealth and Continental Church Society and was used as a residence for single women attending a normal school. In 1942, this building was rented for the purpose of establishing a Nursing Care Program. In May 1959, the Saskatoon Convalescent Home Society was formed as a charitable non-profit organization and entitled to Government grants and charitable donations. The Society purchased the Home in 1963 and encouraged interested persons to purchase a membership. Each year, these members have the responsibility to elect a Board of Directors to oversee the operations of the Home. After years of planning, a new Saskatoon Convalescent Home was constructed on lots adjacent to the original building and fifty residents moved to the new building in the fall of 1983. Twenty-four-hour nursing care is provided by Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Continuing Care Aides.

Sunnyside is blessed to be tucked away in a neighborhood with a great view of the lovely South Saskatchewan River. The river provides the backdrop for the dining room, where our 97 residents eat each day. This year a new multi-purpose room was built with great views of our beautiful courtyard. Sunnyside’s vision is “To be a home that supports Christian values and one another to live a meaningful and abundant life.” By keeping this vision alive, it is our goal to alleviate loneliness, helplessness, and boredom for the residents that live at Sunnyside. Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre is one of the oldest Adventist nursing homes in Canada; again with start-up leadership from Anthony Kaytor who as then Conference President was instrumental in the planning and construction. Sunnyside opened its doors in 1964 with space for 68 residents, increasing to 106 in 1968 – but later reduced to the current capacity of 97 in 2003. Located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, it features an expansive courtyard and has undergone many improvements over the years. It is located near the Saskatoon Seventh-day Adventist Christian School. Randy Kurtz has provided leadership as an Administrator since 2008.

The Sisters and staff care for each resident as if he or she was their own family. The food is amazing and fresh from their own garden. There are activities every day and each resident is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve at this time in their lives. I would never take my family anywhere else. My mom has lived at St. Joseph's for 2 years. Their home is outstanding. Throughout Covid for the first 2 years, the were no cases. Rules were followed and care was given. There was never a problem scheduling a zoom meeting with mom. The Sisters placed family photos on the walls. Kept us updated at all times. I highly recommend your family member living here. The care is like none other. 5 huge stars.
