Margaret Flynn began her ballet and modern dance studies with Laine Mets in Edmonton. She established the Wetaskiwin School of Ballet at the age of eleven. In 1967, she founded the Edmonton School of Ballet and developed dance schools throughout Alberta. She has performed professionally in musicals, light operas, and other shows. The National Ballet School of Canada was where she received her teacher's diploma. Margaret's passion for dance has inspired many young people to pursue a career in dance. She developed training programs for use by teachers in Canada. She is a lifetime and founding member of the Alberta Dance Educators Association. She has also been involved in many boards. Margaret was selected to be a member of the national council of Cecchetti Society of Canada and is a lifelong member. Ms. Flynn has also been recognized with numerous awards for her contributions to the arts and community service, including the City of Edmonton Cultural Award and the YMCA Tribute to Women Award. In 2017, she was inducted into the Wetaskiwin Sports Hall of Fame. The Edmonton School of Ballet has eight spacious dance studios. Each studio has sprung floors and specialty dance flooring (to prevent injuries), barres, stereos, pianos, and full-length mirrors. All studios have 5 dressing rooms and an office with a friendly environment to wait and eat. A lounge is provided for students and parents to relax.
