Reimagine Architects

There were less than ten architects in all of Edmonton thirty years ago, and they didn’t have much work. Even though the city was expanding quickly, Alberta’s boom-and-bust economy had shaped a culture where structures were constructed cheaply, expecting to be abandoned when the economy dipped. Edmonton’s leaders saw architecture as unnecessary, and there wasn’t much room for creativity, so they had to bring in outside talent for significant projects. The city lacked the courage and will to produce its own architecture. Alberta’s young architects responded by teaming up with Indigenous and rural communities to create their future projects. These working relationships were very educational. They learned the importance of designing functional and beautiful buildings that don’t deplete resources and that fit well with local culture and the landscape.

The overall trend of the reviews is positive, as clients find the team very innovative, talented and supportive. The majority of the clients admired the company's focus on the individual client needs, supportive staff and innovative project management approach. There were no negative reviews of the company. Overall, the biggest positive was the company's talent, trust and innovativeness, which many of the clients found attractive.
