The genesis of Travelodge by Wyndham Edmonton South stems from building contractor Scott King opening King’s Auto Court in San Diego for the 1935 World's Fair. The motel was fully occupied in 1935 due to the popularity of the fair. Scott realized the significance of the guests staying in a location close to the next adventure. As a former contractor, Scott opened King’s Auto Court in San Diego in 1935 to 24 new Southern California locations in the next five years. The first Travelodge opened in 1940. From now on, only the beginnings of a great adventure can be regarded as a pioneer in adventure travel. In 1954, the Ambassador of Adventure (Sleepy Bear) was unveiled. Canada's first Travelodge was opened in Medicine Hat (Alberta) in 1973. The company now operates in over 100 locations across Canada, boasting from Victoria (British Columbia) and Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) and over 4,000 worldwide. It is still a leading pioneer in adventure travel. In 1935, its birth year, a variety of locations close to beaches, downtown centers, National Parks, and hockey rinks were available. It can accommodate adventure-seekers of all ages. Our Travelodge near you will provide your next adventure. We are eagerly waiting at your basecamp.
