Our services are available in BC. The law is complex, and people do not always have the financial means to pay for legal services. Our lawyers help you with your legal issues. Legal Aid BC is a Crown Company established to offer legal aid in British Columbia. The Legal Services Society Act created it in 1979 to provide legal advice and information. We help people who do not have access to the justice system. All British Columbians can use some of our services. The provincial government funds us. Other funders and partners include the Notary Foundation of BC, the Law Foundation of BC, and the Law Foundation of BC. We are accountable to the public and independent from the government. We offer a range of legal services to address the concerns of people. We decide which services to provide, as stipulated in the LSS Act. We offer our services at all legal assistance locations in the province. Legal Aid BC is committed to reconciliation and increasing Indigenous people's access to our services. Our Reconciliation Action Plan lays out our approach. Our agreement to collaborate with other justice sector partners, share information, and enhance access for the most marginalized populations is a priority.
