ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg – West Portage Branch The West Portage branch has one level and is just minutes from the West perimeter. The first thing you note when you enter this branch is the sense of light and size. The gym is enormous and is bathed in natural light. The gym's windows look out over the waterslides and aquatic center. The gym also has a large gym down the hall from the entrance. The floor-to-ceiling play structure is also in the same area and is perfect for a toddler during the day. Adjacent to the double gym is a double gym with dividers. The hall can also feature many classes during the week or multiple activities simultaneously. The branch does have a child care service available, though kids can be checked in at the front of the gym. Staff are well trained and operate in a controlled and safe setting. This service is incredibly well-organized and helpful to you while reaching your fitness targets and any personal health and wellness goals you may have. Swimming, regardless of your age and level of physical, mental or sensory abilities, is a physical exercise program that is enjoyed by all. Since many adults and children are attracted to swimming, it is considered an endurance sport for both fresh and experienced swimmers. However, novice swimmers will appear to participate in the game when they learn to swim within the first three months. This is because, as they will see, they already have increased their safety in water and their overall comfort, as well as their fitness, swimming ability, and water safety and fun. The exercise of swimming is an essential life skill that all people should learn. This is why we offer swimming courses for registered students, Adaptive Swim courses, and regular drop-in lessons for teenagers and adults. Our Come-and-Go swim lessons are a special offer that combines the flexibility and extra assistance that a family and child need in their swimming journey.
