Grant Thornton did a good job on my tax US and Canadian returns. Unfortunately their billing department over-billed me for time spent advising me on some questions I had. By a lot. My Grant Thornton person intervened and got it fixed, but then it happened again. The billing department billed me $430 for a 15 minute conversation with my Grant Thornton person. There were add ons for technology use and the bill wasn't even reasonable. The company sent out a letter last year to everyone saying to talk with a team member would cost $600/hour. I asked my account representative how I was ever going to speak to him again with that exorbitant hourly rate and he said that would not be a problem. And then the first time I spoke with him briefly I got the $430 bill, which so far I have refused to pay.My account representative never returned my calls after saying he would try to look into it. I filed a complaint with them and never heard back until today when I got another bill with interest from their accounting department. I have now found another cross-border company who charges $300/hour for phone calls. $600/hour??? That is absurd. I'm changing companies. I liked my account person and trusted him, but sadly this company is all about the big bucks.
