MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects Ltd. has its headquarters in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with offices in Lunenburg (Nova Scotia), Oregon, Massachusetts, and Lunenburg. The company operates internationally and locally on residential, cultural, and academic projects. MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple also offers comprehensive architectural and interior design, and urban design services. The Partners are Brian MacKay–Lyons, Talbot Sweetapple, and Melanie Hayne. The Design Associate is Shane Andrews. Throughout their 30-year history, the company has delivered exceptional design services. The quality of their work is attested to by over 150 design awards. These include six National and International Honor Awards for Architecture from the American Institute of Architects, four Architectural Record Houses Awards, and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada's Gold Medal and RAIC Firm Award in 2015. Eight Governor General's Medals, fifteen Lieutenant Governor's Medals of Excellence, eight Canadian Architect Awards, and 13 North American Wood Design & Building Awards. Brian MacKay Lyons is a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He received an Honorary Fellowship from the American Institute of Architects in 2001. He became an International Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects in London. The company has been featured in over 700 global publications and 100 international exhibitions. Partners have been active in architecture education. Talbot has been an Adjunct Professor since 1997, Brian as a Full Professor at Dalhousie University for 37 years, and Talbot as the Professor of Practice from 2013. They have held 18 honorary academic chairs, visiting professorships, at leading universities globally, such as Harvard University, Washington University, St. Louis, and Yale University. More than 200 people have given public lectures on their work worldwide.
