Crown Attorney's Office

The Crown Attorney's Office handles all charges under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs, and Substances Acts, Youth Criminal Justice Acts, and any other federal statutes. The Ontario Court of Justice consists primarily of traditional courts that have been established across the province. The Ontario Court of Canada Court has created about 60 criminal courts to provide various support programs to meet the particular needs of Indigenous people and those suffering from mental or addiction issues. Ontario Court of Justice is dedicated to providing fair and timely access to justice. To support this goal, the Court of Justice adopted new guidelines for criminal courts to establish and schedule these courts in January 2017. It is important to ensure that the court resources are managed effectively. This must be approved by both the Chief Justice and the Regional Senior Justice.
