Nadezhda, pronounced “Na-Dez” in Russian, means hope. It was in early 2007 that I landed in Canada with just a suitcase and a smile. My name is Nadezhda, but I may have had nothing else at that time. A journey of treasure and transformation awaited me. Growing up was a culture shock, and my appreciation for culture widened as I improved my English language. I realized that I had to change if I wanted to survive. But, change still would not be enough. My actinic zeal is a spark from above that must be kindled to win this battle! I realized that I could view my windows and other life's bright light out there. I was born to celebrate everything in this world. My grandfather’s Zenit S classic film camera became more precious.
