Reliable City Art Centre provides a dignified safe setting for art forms, with peer encouragement and self-direction opportunities on one side and hope on the other. In February 1992, two 28-year-olds who worked for several years in Mental Health Services founded City Art Centre. They agreed it was important to create a safe environment where everyone could express themselves through the arts. That requires space, art supplies, no cost, some encouragement, and peer support. The founders wanted to help their co-workers who had been diagnosed with some new mental illness. Art from City Art helps feelings come out and heal. This has improved the quality of life for City Art members. In addition, this self-expression can be combined with work, exercise, family, and yoga. Today, City Art members create art in various ways and styles. The urbanism offers all these formats forms of support to their respective creative processes. The community may interact in various ways. What was said, taught, or suggested can be displayed on the walls. City Art has improved mental health and enabled members to understand what was going on in their minds.
