Katharine Robinson School of Highland Dancing's mission is to provide exceptional dance instruction that supports students in maximizing their potential and experiencing the joy that Highland Dancing brings. The school is inclusive and nurturing for dance enthusiasts and competitors of all ages and abilities. KRSHD is based in Washington, D.C. and holds community performances, demonstrating Scottish culture. KRSHD began at the Robinson home when Katharine welcomed 10 students over fifty years ago. The school has grown into a strong and enthusiastic community. Two-year-olds bring their energy and competitive dancers up to fifty years old attend class. They are offered recreation classes, examinations every year, several competitions, and shows at the local, regional and international level. Dancers that have been taught by Ms. Robinson have won competitions in Canada, Scotland, and the United States. The school is committed to community service. This consists of fundraising and shows for well-known charities. There are many ways to participate in the local community. Ms. Robinson promotes her dancers to join associations, teams, and compete in various concerts. She helps them build confidence and take pride in their accomplishments. The school offers both recreational and competitive classes. Dancers get ready for their annual exams. They also participate in local, regional, and international competitions, as well as demonstrations. There is a curriculum for professional exams.
