About this business

Introducing Rare Craft Beer from Prince Edward County. Enjoy it here or take some home! Dog-friendly patio. A funky stylish cafe with a super-friendly vibe. Awesome coffee. Vegan options. Milk Substitutes. Gluten-free options. Locally sourced organic items. We opened Rooster Café on a December day in 2009 on 21st. When we turned the sign from CLOSED to OPEN for the first time, the street was a sleepy little strip. It was so frightening. Dave, my partner, had to be very patient. He told me to “unlock the door . . . and make coffee for anyone who comes in.” That was it. The keys slid into the lock, clicked open, and we were in. With help from friends and neighbors who live right next door, we created our small flagship. By making the rules up as we went, expanding our house and building an extension became fumbles. With every stonewall, potted plant, and espresso machine, one thing was obvious: we wanted to design a space that was inviting. That we could fill with love, laughter, community, and giggles. For the most part, our philosophy, despite having two additional locations, remains unchanged. We strive to build each store to meet the needs of the local community, to be warm and welcoming, sell only the finest local products, and do it all with kindness and joy. When you add an extension to your house, you will always find your heart there.
