About this business

The Underground Café was born in June of 2012 in a small but promising strip on 20th St. West in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Dallyn Guenther, the owner of The Underground Café, came across a newly opened Village Guitar & Amp while on his way to get his Telecaster tuned up. Upon speaking with the new Riversdale entrepreneurs and the landlord, he fell in love with the adjacent space. Having lived in Australia and New Zealand for the last three years, Dallyn was inspired by their excellent, free coffee culture. Dallyn learned the ropes as a barista at a Sydney suburb with a substantial Italian population and operated a coffee cart on the roadside in Kaikoura, New Zealand. When Dallyn returned to Saskatoon, he started envisaging The Underground Café. In Riversdale, The Underground Café quickly became a local favourite. Jordan Zakoor, a restaurant expert with years of experience and innovative ideas, joined the team in January 2014. Jordan Zakoor immediately took to the floor and turned the café into what it is today, introducing such favourites as The Page Grilled Cheese Sandwich, The Goodness Bar, and the award-winning Citrus Red Lentil Soup. Dallyn transformed the cafe from a music venue at night to a bustling cafe by day. We are grateful to everyone who gave their experience and time for The Underground Café concept. Thank you to the whole community for embracing quality coffee, home-made meals, and rock ‘n’ roll.
