ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

Customer Feedback Summary Dealing with around 8-10 solicitor firms between Banbury, Leamington Spa & Coventry to get a statutory declaration authorised and Mark Cooper of the Coventry branch was the only one to get in contact with me. He was able to arrange a face to face appointment with me within a week & was kind, friendly and knows his stuff! I appreciate the service I requested is only minor in the grand scheme of things, but would highly recommend his services. Family has been with the solicitors since the 1970s' when they were in the quadrant. I have been a client with this firm for more than 10 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Diane Latham and Mark Cooper are both outstanding professionals who consistently go above and beyond. They make the conveyancing process seamless and straightforward. I've had many complex cases, & tight deadlines and Diane has always been fully prepared for any situation! Highly recommended, and I find myself recommending their services to anyone I speak to We've used BTTJ twice now for our conveyancing. Diane and Jo did a great job from start to finish, and I can't thank them enough. A brilliant company to work with. My sister & I instructed BTTJ to deal with the sale our mother's house who passed away at the beginning of the year. The house was sold and completed within 3 months. Everything went smoothly without any stress which we relieved about due to the tragic circumstances. Communication from Pauline Higgins & Jo Parker was very good with no delays in responding to us. We would definitely recommend BTTJ if you need a reliable & honest conveyancer. Fantastic experience with Brindley, Twist, Tafft & James, we have just completed on our house purchase, Ben and his team have been super helpful and efficient, I would happily recommend Brindley Twist Tafft and James for house conveyancing. This firm and a solicitor called Amanpreet acted for the landlord on a commercial property lease we were apart of. The level of communication received was shocking and a simple lease took over nearly 7 months causing significant stress for all parties involved. Unfortunately our experience was horrible and would not recommend this firm or the solicitor at all and would advise anyone to avoid using them. Suggested Improvements for the Medical Negligence Department My overall experience with the medical negligence department was disappointing. In both instances, I found myself having to take matters into my own hands to achieve a satisfactory outcome, which highlights significant areas for improvement. First Claim On a positive note, the firm was willing to negotiate down the success fee to an acceptable level, unlike many other firms, which I appreciated. However, I resented paying it, as the only success in the case came from my own efforts in achieving an offer completely independent of the firm’s involvement, and securing an increased offer despite their advice to accept a lower offer. The Solicitor was dogmatic: The solicitor I used (AL) was dogmatic to the extreme. It felt like speaking to a brick wall—there was a complete lack of creative thinking and an inability to negotiate effectively. When I raised concerns and discussed escalation, I was told I was “threatening him,” which was naive and bizarre. Your case is ancillary to their fees: The main focus seems to be on using your medical negligence case to generate fees at all costs, with little regard for your actual case. The Barrister was a bull in a China shop: The Barrister they hired undermined my case, with poor briefing from the solicitor and an arrogant attitude. This led to unnecessary costs and a lack of focus on the strengths of my case, despite having a substantial settlement offer. Their fees and no win no fee - don’t be fooled: Don’t assume that a ‘no win no fee’ agreement will shield you from responsibility for their fees. Even under this agreement, you may still be liable for shortfalls if the other side disputes the fees. Raise concerns and escalate: Don’t hesitate to raise concerns and escalate them. Skip the supervisor level, as it means speaking to someone with little change in perspective. I recommend escalating directly to the senior Partner, who is responsible for handling complaints, if necessary. Give clear, written instructions, with a timeline: Providing clear, written instructions with expected timelines is crucial. They will try to avoid or delay responses, so ensure all requests are well-documented. Second Claim My experience with a second claim further supports the concerns I raised earlier. They rejected a second claim I submitted, which I later pursued successfully on my own. This highlights a significant gap where clients are left unsupported when they take matters into their own hands. Handling Success Fees: As with my first claim, handling of success fees remains a concern. Firms often charge a fee even for cases they are confident in winning. It is essential that clients are not overcharged for low-risk cases, and accountability in fee management should be improved. Taking on Strong Cases: If you have a strong medical negligence case, it’s not worth using this firm. However, for those with less clear-cut cases, negotiating down the success fee may be beneficial. Many firms appear to prioritize cases they are confident in winning, managing risk over genuinely supporting clients. Client Empowerment: Empower clients to take more control over their cases. Providing better guidance on managing fees and ensuring their concerns are taken seriously will enhance the overall client experience Conclusion The medical negligence department could greatly benefit from a more client-centric approach, with improved communication, fair handling of fees, and a stronger focus on supporting clients, especially those with complex cases. Very good service and ben was very helpful from start to finish would strongly recommend I would definitely use their services again thanks you so much Lynn and brian The level of Service provided by Kate Weston and the Team at BTT&J was exceptional. I felt they met all my needs to the highest standard, keeping me fully upto date at all times, with all actions being dealt with promptly and efficiently. I had full confidence in them and would not hesitate in highly recommending as the Solicitors to use for all your requirements. Tyler was excellent during my recent house purchase, answered all queries and questions quickly, the purchase was completed under 12 weeks as well. Thanks again Tyler Condescending and incompetent with poor attention to detail and no ability to negotiate. No respect for spelling my name or address right, even after raising it to them. They don't know what's written into their own lease contracts, nor will they write in anything agreed on the Heads of Terms. They also tried to pressurise me into signing a lease written on a legal template from 2008, which contained significant additional financial obligations not mentioned at offer stage, and which they then refuse to edit (possibly because they can't as it's a photocopy from 2008!) and consider any of my requests for amendment or removal. EDITED TO RESPOND TO THEIR REPLY: This response says it all. No, I'm not a client, I never said I was. But I was a user of their service, due them representing the landlord so am in every position to provide a review of their rubbish service. They told me to obtain independent legal advice, when I asked them to state explicitly the items that their vague clause contained (which I had obtained independent legal advice to do so). Fantastic company to deal with! The professionalism and hard work of Richard was outstanding. Despite a very long process, I was regularly kept up to date. The outcome was very successful and was more than initially expected. Delighted to recommend, one of the best solicitors I’ve ever dealt with. I was in the process of purchasing a house and this solicitor was acting on behalf of the seller of the house I was purchasing. Absolutely shocking service from these solicitors. My solicitor would ask questions regarding the property and would receive "I don't know" as an answer. Absolutely shocking service. The house fell through as the sellers didn't even have a mortgage to buy their next property. Dishonest and unprofessional is how I sum this company up. I would have to chase up the estate agents in order for them to chase the solicitors. It was such slow service! I am now out of pocket due to this mess around. Shocking service. Excellent service by Alex Khan and his team who helped us with the purchase of our first home. Very much appreciated. Highly recommended!
