As an award-winning group of dancers who perform in the Phoenix area, COFD Company Dancers will perform within the community. Performances occur at local dance festivals, parades, and other venues. Some performances are scheduled for winter, spring, or summer, and a few are placed towards the end of the summer. The Company's primary goal is to perform for audiences in the community as frequently as possible. Activity will depend on the location, time of year, and the size of the audiences. There will be show and business performances.
At times, COFD Company Dancers receive training from award-winning choreographers or master teachers. Sometimes they are required to travel out of state to take part in dance conventions. Some conventions are located at large convention centers that host a large number of dancers. These dance conventions are designed to help the dancers advance by meeting dancers from different parts of the country. The Company Dancers have an opportunity to learn from and work with professional choreographers, teachers, and dancers who live outside the state. The dancers are taught discipline, commitment, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Each Company Member will be expected to attend one or two rehearsal hours per week, in addition to their regular classes (some rehearsals might be needed). The rehearsals will be held in the state-of-the-art COFD facility throughout the week. The facility is designed to allow the dancers the freedom and support they need to express themselves.
