Otis College of Art and Design began its journey in 1918 in Los Angeles as the first art professional art school. The school was founded as a non-profit, 501(c),3 organization. Otis is committed to being an international design and education leader. It educates over 1,200 students from diverse backgrounds to be competent, informed, and ethical workplace professionals. The college's mission is to prepare students to contribute effectively to sustained human and environmental well-being. Otis alumni and faculty include Fulbright, MacArthur, and Guggenheim grant winners, Oscar winners, famous costume designers, leaders in visual arts movements, and entrepreneurs. The reviews for the school are extremely positive with a genuine admiration for the campus and the programs it offers. A parent was satisfied with the welcome newcomers received during Accepted Students' Day and felt that the campus was small and convenient with a warm atmosphere. Parents and students are drawn to the arts and design courses, which they consider among the best. The campus is viewed as beautiful and appealing from the reviews, though it is not entirely clear-minded since there are students that remain on the grounds. According to the COVID-19 shutdown and number of students allowed on campus, new students are still able to tour the campus. Prospective students are advised to visit while making their decision. The campus grants a conducive environment and those who attend have a sense of wonder and magic. Eugene O. Provided positive feedback for the school saying the programs are excellent. The school attracts individuals who are obsessed with art and design. Although tracing and mask-wearing are mandated on campus, not all students abide by the lockdown guidelines. Visitors should check in advance with the campus to see if it is safe. For prospective students, it is the best experience.feasible.
