Verge embarked on a significant renovation in 2013, days after completing escrow on its building. The organization reopened in the summer of 2014, as it merged with the Center for Contemporary Art Sacramento (CCAS), a regional institution with a history of over 25 years, and has been reinvigorated by the process. Verge possesses new energy and respect for CCAS's history, and the CCAS merger provided a strong foundation for this exciting time of growth and the future of contemporary art for central valley. Verge Center for the Arts provides contemporary art, art resources, and artist workspaces to artists across the Sacramento area. Verge offers low to no-cost access to contemporary art, generally to generate the finest output. The company achieves this goal through exhibitions, educational programs, and free or very affordable studio space. In addition, Verge is in the Southside Park neighborhood and has 36 studios for artists, two galleries for artists to showcase their work, an art class space, and fine art printing facilities.
