San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) began in 1994. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors established this award-winning managed care plan. SFHP's goal is to help improve the health of all San Francisco neighborhoods. Their primary objective is to offer quality medical care to many San Francisco low-income residents. SFHP supports the City and County's community-minded and public hospitals, clinics, and doctors. Eight out of ten San Francisco Medi-Cal Managed Care enrollees choose SFHP. More than 145,000 members receive specialist care, preventive care, emergency care, hospitalization, and prescription drugs. Medi-Cal offers family planning services, as do Healthy Workers HMO programs. Medi-Cal and Healthy Workers HMO programs serve San Francisco's low-income and uninsured populations. SFHP also provides third-party administration for Healthy San Francisco and City Option programs. These programs provide healthcare access for over 13,000 adults. Premium assistance, medical reimbursement accounts, and medical savings account programs serve almost 345,000 San Francisco workers. SFHP's public, non-profit, and National Committee for Quality Assurance Accredited Medicaid HMO health plan. SFHP is committed to universal coverage. SFHP offers comprehensive healthcare services through long-standing arrangements with San Francisco Health Network and the Department of Public Health. SFHP works with the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium and other local providers to provide healthcare to low-income San Franciscans. Our Mission San Francisco Health Plan's mission is to enhance the health of diverse San Francisco neighborhoods through partnerships that work.
