Hyland Family Bicycles
A family-owned and operated full-service bike shop in San Jose since 1963. We are proud to carry bike brands like Trek, Giant, and Electra. We also specialize in bike repair for all makes and models.
Introduction
Our shop opened in 1963 at the corner of Foxworthy and Cherry as the Foxworthy Bike Shop by Francia and Jim Hyland. It was the early ’60s and the business catered to kids' bikes. Francia was a second-grade teacher and Jim was a chemical engineer. The little shop became a 2nd home for the Hyland family boys, where they worked weekends and summers. This original bike shop was well-known for its low-pressure sales and instruction on how to ride a bike and then how to purchase one. Fran and Jim loved their customers and wanted them to learn and enjoy the full benefits of riding a bike.
Family-Owned Business
Our company was founded on love. Parents, educators who loved the world of bikes. The Foxworthy bike shop was in business longer than the Hyland brothers were required to work at it. When the other brothers left for college, Bill stayed with the company and took over after 7 years.
