Local Color

Local Color, a women-powered nonprofit 501.c.3, aims to create equitable opportunities for emerging and established artists in San Jose to stay active and employed. We do so by commissioning public artwork, developing affordable studios, and supporting fiscal sponsorship. Local Color SJ's board and staff are convinced that artists and creators can establish essential connections between people, spaces, and peers. We commit to delivering multidimensional opportunities for established, emerging, engaging, and involving artists in their communities. Our objective is to create equitable opportunities and platforms for all artists, regardless of race, age, ethnicity, neuro & physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identity, gender expression, geography, or culture. Equity is determined by the acceptance of all types and the assurance that work is paid equally and equitably. The accomplishment is measured by the community value we provide.
