Customer Feedback Recap for Budget Truck Rental 1. Searching for a cargo van or one-way rental from Orange County to the San Francisco Bay Area is challenging. My husband and I found Budget Truck Rental, and we were excited until we saw all the negative reviews. Since we had no other option, we made our reservation two weeks before moving. Jason confirmed that the vehicle would be available the day we needed it. Upon arrival at 8:00 a.m., Jason had already arrived. The vehicle was ready and the pickup process went smoothly. Jason was helpful and pleasant. I can't understand why other clients had terrible experiences. Our only issue is that the vehicle was unwashed and the interior could have been cleaner. 2. Finding a cargo van or truck to rent one way from Orange County to the San Francisco Bay Area is challenging. My husband and I found Budget Truck Rental, which got us excited until we read many negative reviews. We booked Budget two weeks before the move because other options were limited. We contacted Jason to confirm the availability of the vehicle on the moving day, and he assured us it would be available. Jason was already at the Budget facility when we arrived at 8:00 am. The vehicle was ready for us and the pickup was smooth. Jason was very helpful and friendly. I don't understand what the other customers saw that I did not. The only reason we did not give five stars is that the vehicle was not washed and the inside could have been cleaned. 3. I believe I was helped by Jason- he was friendly, professional, and got my reservation ready in minutes. I had some trouble with the ramp on the truck and called back hours later. During the call, he provided helpful suggestions, which I appreciated. Thank you! 4. I think Jason served me- he was friendly, professional, and had my reservation done within minutes. Hours after booking, I had trouble with the ramp on the Budget truck. Jason gave me some helpful advice during the phone call. Thank you! 5. My Budget rental car experience was terrible. I had reserved an EV in advance, but the staff claimed that no EVs were available when I arrived. Instead of suggesting an appropriate alternative, they "upgraded" me to a full-size vehicle, which was in a terrible state. The car was dirty and had multiple visible cracks and damage. When I asked for another full-size vehicle, the agent downgraded me to a Toyota Corolla, which was also dirty and poorly maintained. The agent dishonestly included an early pick-up fee of around $30 without informing me. He folded the receipt to hide the fee, and I was not asked to sign it to avoid drawing attention to the unexpected cost. I strongly discourage using this Budget branch. Doc was unprofessional, the vehicles were in bad condition, and I was treated unfairly. I will not lease from this branch again. 6. I received an estimate to rent a truck by calling this branch. When I arrived to rent, there were additional fees that had not been disclosed during the phone call. It would have been great if they had mentioned all the fees upfront. I called the customer service team, and Cesar, a Budget representative, responded professionally and kindly. Overall, the rental process was successful, with only one positive experience. 7. I received an estimate to rent a truck by calling this branch. When I arrived to rent, there were additional fees that had not been disclosed during the phone call. It would have been great if they had mentioned all the fees upfront. I called the customer service team, and Cesar, the Budget agent, was professional and kind. Only one part of this process was seamless. 8. I had a very disrespectful experience with this Budget location. My EV was reserved in advance. When I arrived, the staff said that there were no EVs available and "upgraded" me to a full-sized vehicle. Unfortunately, the car given was in a terrible state. When I requested a replacement, the agent downgraded me to a Toyota Corolla, which was also filthy and worn out. I was charged around $30 for an early pick-up fee, though I was not informed about it. The agent folded the receipt and did not ask me to sign, avoiding attention to the additional cost. In summary, the Budget location is not recommended. The agent was unprofessional, the cars were in a bad state, and I was deceived. I am unlikely to return to this branch next time. 9. Do not rent from budget!!!! Their trucks are garbage. Truck did not have working air conditioning. Drove in 100+ heat for 7 hours without AC. All they offered was a $25 credit on a $700 rental. Worst company ever 10. Really bad experience. They opened 20 minutes late and put me behind schedule. I specifically asked for a gas truck, even though one was right there, he insisted I take the electric one or he would just cancel my reservation. I drove 4 miles down the road and realized I would not be able to meet my time line, so I turned around and returned it. He charged me for a full day rental and charged me almost $20 to recharge the stupid thing even though I did less than 10 miles and I had to return it due to HIS opening the store late and not having additional time to stop and recharge a vehicle that had less than 50% charge left. The gas truck was right in the front parking lot the entire time. He really does not care at all, but that is apparent reading all of these awful reviews. They also have Avis on site, and I rented vehicles twice and they are always dirty and not rental ready. Each time I have a problem with a vehicle, time to rent elsewhere, I guess. 11. I have never had a worse experience with a truck rental service. I was called on the day of my move exactly 20 minutes before I was set to pick up my Oakland truck and told that my reservation was canceled because they did not have the truck I ordered. This was absolutely ridiculous and the most unprofessional thing a so-called business could do. A business with integrity would never put their clients through what you did to me. I expect a full refund... period. I called and spoke to a man named Jason, who was very rude and unhelpful. He seemed to be irritated by my inability to understand how my reservation could be canceled on the day of my move when it was booked weeks in advance. He was completely unhelpful, and I was left in a very stressful and panicked state because I had very little time to find another solution. 12. First time ever that I was in & out of a rental agency in less than 5 minutes. Drop off was even quicker. Very friendly staff. Why can't all rental car companies act this efficiently? 13. Hi I have reservation on 10 am today I arrived 20 minutes early there was flyer about new office hours 8am to 2pm but there was no one inside I knocked on the door but there was no one, I called the number on the flyer, it was representative, she was trying to contact office but no one was inside I left after 20 minutes, wasting time 14. If I could give less than 1 star I would...honestly, I'm just happy I got my truck. The hours on Google weren't updated (I just went in and made the suggestion myself because the owner claimed "he had no control") so I showed up on a Friday at 4pm and the location was closed. I didn't get a call or anything to ask me why I hadn't picked up my truck. I went back Saturday morning (luckily I had planned ahead) and he was late. The owner was rude from the jump. Because I was a day late due to google having the times listed incorrectly, my reservation was automatically canceled. I ended up not with the same size vehicle as requested - again, I got lucky that everything fit. Granted, moving is very stressful so I was a bit on edge, but this man was combative and rude from the start. Upon further review, this location as a 1 star on Yelp too. These are franchised businesses...I would drive a few more blocks up the road and go somewhere else because this guy is the worst. He threatened to report me so that I couldn't rent from Budget again and honestly...if this is the type of person that Budget wants to partner with, I think I'll just take my business elsewhere. I've rented from U-haul before with no issues, I was just hoping to save a couple bucks this time around since I'll be moving cross country. My bad I guess...stick with what you know. 15.
