Colorado Ballet was co-founded in 1961 by Lillian Covillo and Freidann Parker and has become well-known for producing classical ballets and dances. In nearly 60 years, it has informed and entertained the Denver community. Colorado Ballet presents over 50 ballets by a professional company comprising 31 dancers and 21 apprentice dancers each year. Armstrong Center for Dance, ACD }}">Colorado Ballet Academy is the premier training institution for Colorado Ballet, offering a blended learning format accredited by the American Ballet Theatre (ABT). The curriculum allows students to learn about creative dance, pre-ballet and classical ballet. Children are eligible for Level 1 at age seven. Through age, capability, or experience, they progress. This course is structured to introduce young ballet artists to dance and then provide them a complete and comprehensive dance education. Pre-Professional Division Colorado Ballet's Pre-Professional Division is an audition-based program that smoothly transitions students from student to professional dancer. The program is focused on producing well-rounded artists by going beyond technique training and concentrating on other areas of arts education. It is intended to prepare pupils for the rigors of professional ballet. The Open Program, a community-based program, offers ballet sessions for beginning to advanced ballet to teens and adults.
