Kim Jones Agency has been part of us from when we bought our house 20 years ago. We have had concerns with the rate and have always been assisted to get a quote we were comfortable with. In 20 YEARS, we have had 2 claims. 2. The last one several, several years ago---I'd say at least 6-7 years, for about $1k. No issues. This year we get a notice the insurance company is going out of business. So we call and request quotes. We were at about $1700 a year. Amber sent us quotes for $4k & $5k. I emailed why she sent us quotes that would not even be considered and was told (within minutes) those are their BEST RATES. I said you mean to tell me $4000 and $5000 rates are THE ONLY RATES YOU HAVE AVAILABLE? I was told yes. Zero effort put into this. ZERO. I told her I cannot FATHOM ANYONE paying these rates. As a 20-year customer, we will not pay those rates; we are signing a much better policy for $1800.00. As an example, dwelling coverage on Jen's policy was $171,000. The new coverage is $276,000. We are tweeking a few things we might want to add on to adjust the price by a few hundred dollars. This is just an example of how much better coverage---with very minimal increase to MY out of pocket. The other coverages are equally as good. BTW the new insurance company we are going with multiple 4.5-5 star ratings on many, many platforms. I did my homework.
I am a firm believer in supporting and being loyal to local small business. But I'll be damned if we are taken advantage of and not taken care of, much less not get any apology for the 4 times hike in rate, and clearly zero effort in taking care of our business. I'm giving a 2 star because...
