The Corner Gallery

The Corner Gallery is presented by the Jacksonville Cultural Development Corporation, a registered 501(c) cultural organization that has collaborated with BIPOC musicians and social service non-profits, focusing on under-resourced and historically marginalized communities, including the Eastside neighbourhood. Their community-driven programming in the arts connects these groups with change agents who can impact educational, social, economic, and environmental behaviours. JCDC's cultural program, Moving the Margin Artists In Residence, supports artists and creatives by offering resources and a platform for expression. Shawana is an award-winning Curator and social practice activist who has promoted artists' voices through representation for over five years. This cultural production vehicle utilizes Shawana's advocacy for Black artists to create public spaces that are open and welcoming to all, encouraging visual storytelling. She creates work that speaks to social issues and reflects the artists' individual artistic interests.
