Miami Hispanic Ballet, a performing arts organization formed in 1993, is a 501C (3) organization in Miami Dade County. It was established as a not-for-profit dance company to identify and promote professional dancers of Hispanic origin in Miami Dade County. Miami Hispanic Ballet has acted as both the producer and the presenter since its inception and has held some of the most significant galas of artistic excellence in Miami-Dade County. The gala performances have marked spectacular occasions that led to the inception of The Annual International Ballet Festival of Miami. It is the most successful in Florida and the US, according to the US government.
The International Ballet Festival takes place every year from the end of August to the middle of September. With the support of Miami-Dade County, this mega event brings to Miami-Dade County a galaxy of ballet superstars from the best dance companies from around the world – over 100 principal dancers from 20 different ballet companies. Apart from performances, participants experience the excellent opportunities to participate in dance films, exhibitions, master classes, and workshops. The IBFM awards two major prizes each year.
