Shands & Baker, Inc. was a private trucker for Rock and Sand Mines and sales representatives. The move was merged with Shands & Baker to become Florida Rock Industries. Thereafter, Ted Baker launched the Orange Park terminal in Florida on March 19, 1962, with twelve trailers and trucks. In 1964, Shands & Baker, Inc. bought Mid-State Hauling followed by the purchase of Eustis-based Diamond Sand and Stone Transportation Company in the next year. The combined companies were named Overland Hauling Co., Inc., with trucking terminals moving to Ocoee, Florida. All Florida Sand and Shands & Baker became public carriers, transporting interstate and intrastate cargoes immediately after Diamond Sand and Stone Transportation Company was bought. The company bought Pipeline Transport assets and continued business for $10 million, adding 70 drivers to its fleet and 56 tractor tractors. FRP Holdings was the real estate company of Patriot Transportation. The company was spun off in 2015 to form a separate transportation-oriented public company. The company bought Danfair Transport assets and continued operations for $1.1 million in fiscal 2020, adding 6 drivers to the fleet and six tractors. In fiscal 2022, the company purchased 5 Star Transportation assets and signed a multiyear contract as the exclusive carrier for Dominy Oil serving its 93 locations in Macon, GA and Augusta, GA. Florida Rock & Tank Lines, Inc. remains a top player in the southeastern United States, functioning as a tank truck for oil and other bulk liquid commodities. The operations are managed by Patriot Transportation Holding Inc.
