Ballethnic, a professional dance company, uplifts Black and Brown dancers, who often are disregarded because of their technical ability. We are changing how Atlanta, the Southeast, engages with classical and modern dance on and offstage, in the studio and classroom, and by peers, professionals, and audiences. This black professional performing arts company has lasted for over 30 years and is truly unique in its authentic, original blending of ballet and African dance concepts. The Dance Company, Academy of Dance, and Youth Ensemble in Ballethnic have been collaborating to maximize artistic options in classical ballet. Our company is one of the Southeast's most prolific ballet pioneers, and our shows are well-received nationwide. However, it would be a massive transformation if Ballethnic could give more Black dancers and other culturally diverse performers enough chances to be part of ballet companies worldwide.
