About this business

Visit DICK'S Sporting Goods for all your outdoor, sports, and fitness needs. We help you choose the correct baseball glove, tune up your bike, set up new fishing gear, and match you for golf clubs. DICK'S Sporting Goods in DALLAS is the biggest store you've ever seen, with a large selection of shoes, workout clothes, sports gear, camping gear, bikes, kayaks, and more. You can expect the best prices from the #1 sporting goods store on-line and free pick-up at this store. In 1948, Dick Stack worked for an Army surplus store in Binghamton. An avid fisherman, Dick was well aware of the essential equipment for a fishing tackle company and the owner asked him to create a list. After laughing and calling him a stupid kid, the owner informed Dick that he had no idea what he was talking about. Dick was furious and quit his job. Dick returned to his grandmother's house where he had spent much of his childhood. He told his grandmother what happened. His grandmother asked him how much it would cost to start the store on his own. Dick said $300. His grandmother took $300 from her cookie jar, where she kept her savings. She told him to "do it." With this $300, Dick started a bait and tackle shop in Binghamton. He expanded his offerings in the 1970s, including many of the products available at DICK&S Sporting Goods
