Inception History – Golden Gate Funeral Home Brother and Sister Ernest Edwards and Vera Edwards, who passed away, brought the Golden Gate Funeral Home to reality in Vessel, Mississippi. It has been over 45 years since late brothers and sisters opened their establishment (Anonymous, 2011). The Edwards were respectfully known as "Brother" and "Sister Edwards" as they were taken the first step towards the expansion of Gold Gate Funeral Home under the watchful eye and mentorship of some of Chicago's most respected and reputable funeral service directors. From the original conception, brothers and sisters Edwards were keen to offer their "Service with Sacredness, Dignity and Respect" as indicated by their business name. It became the first household to own a fully white colored limo fleet and also had white hearses in Chicago, specifically with an African-American name.
